How does the vitamin D3 test work?
The analysis requires a small blood sample from the fingertip. The sample is collected using the materials provided in the test kit.
Read the enclosed instructions in full before use. Follow the requirements for preparation, blood volume, drying, and return shipment. Send the sample together with the completed documents to the specified address.

People with a tendency to bleed or undergoing blood-thinning treatment should seek medical advice before collecting the blood sample.
The evaluation is carried out by IABC AG, the Institute for Applied Biochemistry in Kreuzlingen. According to IABC, the analyses are performed by accredited partner laboratories.
IABC states that the personal report takes about ten days. If desired, it can be delivered by email or post.
When is the vitamin D3 test recommended?
A measurement may be useful for targeted assessment of vitamin D status or for medically supervised monitoring over time. Whether an examination is necessary and when a repeat measurement is appropriate should be discussed individually with a healthcare professional.
This does not support a general recommendation for several tests per year.
What is vitamin D3?
Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, can be produced in the skin under the influence of UV-B radiation. In the body, it is first converted into its storage form, 25-hydroxyvitamin D3.
Vitamin D is involved, among other things, in calcium metabolism. Natural food sources include fatty fish and egg yolk, for example.

Vitamin D3 – the sunshine vitamin
The body's own vitamin D production depends, among other things, on the season, time spent outdoors, and the skin. Therefore, vitamin D levels may fluctuate over the course of the year.
Notes on the results
The report contains your personal measurement results. According to IABC, the evaluation does not replace a medical diagnosis and does not allow any conclusions about personal disease risks.
Discuss any unusual values and a possible adjustment to your vitamin D intake with a healthcare professional.
