Omega-3 test – 1 test kit
The omega-3 test determines the fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in the blood.
Description:
- Dried blood spot test to determine EPA and DHA.
- Blood collection at home followed by laboratory analysis.
- Personal report on your measured values.
- 1 test kit.
How does the omega-3 test work?
For the examination, collect a small blood sample from your fingertip according to the enclosed instructions. Apply the sample to the designated dry blood spot card and send it for analysis after it has dried.
The analysis is carried out by IABC AG, the Institute for Applied Biochemistry in Kreuzlingen. According to IABC, the analyses are performed by accredited partner laboratories.
Read the blood collection instructions in full before use. Pay particular attention to the requirements for preparation, sample collection, and return shipment.
People with a tendency to bleed or undergoing treatment with blood-thinning medication should seek medical advice before collecting the blood sample.

What are omega-3 fatty acids?
Omega-3 fatty acids are components of cell membranes. They include alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), among others.
ALA must be obtained through the diet. The body can produce limited amounts of EPA and DHA from it. EPA and DHA are found, for example, in oily fish; flaxseed oil mainly provides ALA.

When might an omega-3 test be useful?
The test allows you to have your EPA and DHA levels in your blood determined. The results can serve as a basis for discussing your diet with a healthcare professional.
The IABC report does not replace a medical diagnosis and, according to the provider, does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about personal disease risks. Have any health problems medically assessed.
How will you receive your result?
Send the prepared sample together with the fully completed analysis order form in the provided return envelope to the specified address.
IABC states that processing takes approximately ten days until the report is issued. Delivery is available by email or post upon request.
